From insight to action: Using data to strengthen library services

Thursday 26 June • 14:00 BST • 15:00 CEST • 09:00 (EDT)

Libraries across Europe are finding inspiring ways to harness data to inform decisions and better serve their communities. This one hour webinar will highlight two practical approaches: the City of Milan’s development of a data dashboard to gain new insights into library use, and the National Library of the Netherlands’ Bibliotheekmonitor project and Impact Community Learning Groups, which are helping library staff build the skills and confidence to integrate data into their everyday work. Speakers will share how these tools and practices are helping libraries move beyond data collection toward gaining insights and building confidence to take data-informed action.

Speaker information

Bjorn Schrijen (KB) and Danielle Plantenga (ABC Huis) will talk about the Impact Community and the Bibliotheekmonitor in the Netherlands. The Impact Community brings libraries together nationwide to work in a more impact-driven way. The Bibliotheekmonitor supports libraries in measuring their outputs and impact. Their examples can serve as inspiration.

Elisa Bellistri (Head of the Automation and Digital Services Unit) and Ilaria Bigelli (Head of the Niguarda Library) will explain how the Milan Library System collects data by monitoring user access, lending activities, and events, and by analyzing the outcomes in order to enhance the libraries' impact on both residents and city users.

Who should attend

This webinar is designed with public and national library audiences in mind, but is open to anyone who is interested in the topic. The content has been designed to be clear and useful for both beginners and those who want to refine their data practices.
