Expanding the reach of libraries online with linked data

Anne Washington, MLIS, Product Manager, OCLC

Get the latest updates on OCLC’s linked data initiatives. We’ll explore how Dewey Linked Data, WorldCat Entities, OCLC Meridian, and BIBFRAME are advancing linked data adoption and improving metadata workflows. Learn how these efforts support metadata transformation and interoperability across library systems.

The impact of cataloging

Nina Whittaker, Senior Librarian, Museums Victoria (Melbourne)

This session explores how the act of cataloging a single book can create widespread impact, even for books recently published and widely held. We will walk through the process of cataloging a 2014 book on Victorian Aboriginal languages, from the Museums Victoria Library’s equity-based approach to the ALIA Reparative Description Community of Practice. The outcomes of this collaborative process, including the expansion of the AustLang controlled vocabulary, will be sure to leave you inspired and empowered to get cataloging!
