Create and manage Community profile

If you want to use Wise Community, you need to create a profile first.

Create profile

You can create a profile if:

• Your email address is known
• You are an individual (not an institution like a school)
• You have no financial obligations
• Your library has determined that your subscription has access to Wise Community

You can create a profile through various methods:

• Through My account: click on the "Create Community Profile" menu item
• Through the search results: click on "My lists" and then click on "Join the Wise Community for more lists"
• From the full title view: open the "Reviews" or "Tags" tab and click on the notification in the yellow bar

Creating a profile is very simple:

1. Choose a nickname: We will check if the username is unique or already in use by someone else.
2. Read and accept the terms and conditions. The terms and conditions describe how we process your personal data. This is necessary because your data is visible and shared with other libraries.

Manage profile

After creating a Community profile, you will see a new menu option in My account: "Wise Community profile". Click on this link to view and manage your profile. In your profile you will see a number of tabs.

Reviews

In this tab, you can see all the reviews you have written. If you want to edit or delete a review, you can do so on the full title view.

Lists

On the "Lists" tab, you can see all the lists you have created. If you click on the name of a list, it will open an overview of the titles on that list. If you click on the "i" icon next to the name of the list, you will see the description you have added. Use this tab to edit or delete the list. You can also use the search bar to find a specific list.

Tags

On the "Tags" tab, you can see all the tags you have created or assigned. The "Show tag use" button shows how many titles have been assigned that tag. If you click on the tag itself, it will open a list of those titles.

Use the cross icon to delete a tag. Please note that by doing so, you will remove the tag from all titles to which you have assigned it. If you want to remove the tag from a specific title, go to the full title view.

Details

On the "Details" tab, you can see the name, place of residence, and age of the Community user.

Through settings, you can configure whether these details are visible to other users.

Settings

Adjust your settings on the "Settings" tab:

• Profile visibility:: Determine whether your name, age, and place of residence are visible to other users
• About myself: Write a short text about yourself. This text will be visible to other users.
• Change nickname: This is your username. Regret choosing a username like "NovelNerd2005"? Then change your nickname here.
• Your Avatar: Set an avatar by clicking on a category in the window and then selecting an avatar. Click "Save" to display your avatar to other users.
• Delete your profile: Don't want a profile anymore? You can delete your profile here. We will delete your nickname, chosen avatar image, profile settings, lists, and reviews. Your ratings and tags will be kept, but they will be anonymous. Select "I want to permanently delete my Community profile." and then click "Delete Wise Community Profile" to make the deletion permanent. Once you have deleted your profile, it cannot be restored.
